Having mastery means having great skill - personal mastery refers to living your life skillfully; this includes being able to consistently: - experience excellence - replace negative thinking with a positive outlook - release behaviour patterns that hold you back (eg. procrastination, fear) - rely on self-motivation - learn through trial and error (as opposed to thinking that you have failed) - exercise self-awareness and mindfulness - include self-care as a normality - make conscious choices - access the value of your natural talents - draw on emotional intelligence - accept yourself as you truly are ... and BE yourself - align your personal values with those related to your work - be brave - manage stress ... most simply put ... trust and believe in yourself: find meaning in your life, experience satisfaction and enjoy yourself amidst your every day activities and responsibilities both in the home and at work. |
HOW TO ACHIEVE PERSONAL MASTERY
The first step to personal mastery is to re-focus your attention. Pay more attention to yourself, rather than to the commotion of the outside world. Recognise unhelpful influences. Let go your limiting thoughts and behaviours. Recover aspects of yourself that you seem to have lost along the way.
This frees you to move forward in your life by relying on self-referral which results in boosted self-esteem and confidence based on your own understanding and insights ... you take full responsibility for your experience.
Effective self-attention ensures the increase of self-knowledge allowing you to change personal habits of thinking and doing – where necessary.
The outcome is genuine self-belief, confidence, authentic relationships, increased creativity and a positive outlook with a sense of direction – uplifting you personally and professionally.

Inspired by The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron, as well as other notable influences such as Deepak Chopra, Dr Phil MacGraw, Gary Zukav and Debbie Ford, spirals is a guided encounter with yourself. It is a gentle, non-confrontational 12-step course which teaches you, through re-usable exercises, how to pay yourself attention ... this is a tried and tested way to develop effective life skills.
Self-attention increases self-knowledge - this refers to knowledge of your true nature. "The wholeness and freedom we seek is our own true nature, who we really are." ~ Jack Kornfield As your self-knowledge increases, so you are empowered to transform limiting thought and behaviour patterns - by being able to see truth about yourself, by having this truth right there in front of you, you can then make the best decisions on how to move forward in your life and develop habits that support this. It is the foundation phase - an introduction to personal mastery.

THE PRACTICAL STUFF
To summarise:
The spirals Personal Mastery course consists of twelve modules. The first eleven are run as 3½ hour workshops while the final workshop is a full day session (altogether approximately 46 hours of training). These workshops are delivered in two phases – phase 1 is springboard: the foundation phase comprising introductory modules 1 and 2. The following modules 3 to 12 make up Phase 2. springboard must be completed in order to take part in Phase 2 (there is no obligation to do Phase 2 once springboard is completed). Your investment for springboard is R990.00 paid in advance. This foundation phase is usually run across two consecutive time slots a week apart as scheduled here. Phase 2 costs R5400.00 made up by a deposit of R300.00 on booking, followed by 3 instalments of R1700.00 paid at the start of modules 3, 6 and 9. Should you choose to pay in full up front, the deposit is waived and the full amount to be paid is R5100.00. This part of the course is run weekly: - in the mornings (eg. Thu, Sat OR Sun) starting at 09h00/10h00 OR - in the evenings (eg. Tue OR Wed) starting any time after 16h00 OR - by agreed request from the group made up of those who have completed springboard; the schedule can be adjusted by agreement from the group at any point during the course. The groups are kept small with a minimum of 3 participants and a maximum of 7. WHEN ENOUGH PEOPLE CHOOSE THE SAME TIME SLOT, THE GROUP CAN GET STARTED. |
ONE-ON-ONEs
One on ones with Rae are available face to face at the studio or via Skype/Whatsapp Audio with or without video.
If you prefer to conduct your self-discovery/recovery journey without the structure of a fixed process or without working in a group environment, please book an individual appointment to get started.
One hour appointments cost R550.00 each or book a series of three for R1500.00 (getting together weekly).
You may also choose to be facilitated through the spirals Personal Mastery course on your own - it takes about 26 hours to complete the twelve modules and costs R13200.00 made up of 3 instalments of R4400.00 paid at the start of modules 1, 5 and 9.
If you prefer to start with Springboard - these two modules cost R2030.00, with instalments of R2234,00 paid at the start of modules 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 for the remainder of the complete course.

I committed to my second round of spirals earlier this year, during a very uncertain time when COVID-19 was newly upon us. I found myself jobless and back home in South Africa, miles from my partner in Hong Kong, with low self-esteem and little idea of how to pass the lockdown time, never mind fight my way back to Asia under an international travel ban.
Cue: 12 unforgettable weeks of 'spirals' with Rae ...
I'd completed the course 5 years earlier at the age of 23. Everything seemed more straightforward then. This time I was seriously challenged by the self-work within the course! Challenged in a way that was essential for my personal growth, newfound courage and commitment to a higher self, a self which has finally blossomed and I'm sure will never leave.
Dedication to 'spirals' principles and exercises gave me the courage to deepen my yoga practice and start a small yoga studio in my hometown. Here I built a new vision of my place in the world and learned to soften my heart, strengthening my relationships with family, friends and my partner.
I now find myself back in Hong Kong, after smiling my way through a very hairy Ethiopian travel ordeal, working a new job that I love and ready to leave my hotel quarantine tomorrow and move into a new house in a beautiful village.
Setbacks are just opportunities refine your skillfulness in life!
And 'spirals' is sure-fire proof that self-work pays off.
